The day of eating all over Vermont.
Started with "Breakfast at Ben and Jerry's"
The 'retired'/RIP of flavors throughout the years.
Seems appropriate!
Snail Mail
So typical of all New England scenes
Off to the Cider Store for 'brunch'!
(hard cider is pretty good at 10:30 in the morning!)
Each stack of layers gets 2500 pounds of crushed apples, then squeezed to death
and at the end of the work day they have 4000 gallons.
I think the tourists keep emptying out the entire store.
We have been doing our fair share of being the tourist that buys too much stuff!
End of the summer - sunflowers pretty well gone.
THE TRAPP FAMILY LODGE
STOWE, VERMONT
The highlight of the trip - so far.
The lunch was fabulous - followed by a movie featuring Maria Von Trapp and the true history of the family's escape from Austria during Hitler's take over. They ended up in Stowe Vermont with a landscape similar to the Austrian Alps and "The Sound of Music".
The family has ended up turning the estate into a resort/hotel.
At the end of the movie we got to meet the granddaughter Christine and hear her stories.
A charming lady who works on the ski slopes in the winter, and the family lodge in the fall foliage season.
Beautiful flowers everywhere
Wish we had better weather, but this is still beautiful
The Family Cemetery is a lovely garden on the grounds.
He only slept through a little bit - (before the movie)
Then he got to compare notes about the parents/grandparents would speak in German when they didn't want the kids to know what they were saying.
One more food stop before heading back to the campground - the Cheese Store.
Bessie is making sure things are being done correctly.
Back to the campground and the best entertainment!
Like I said - good entertainment and fun!
