Travel the USA

After the country re-opened after Covid-19, we are
"On the Road Again."
Please enjoy the 'armchair travels' and feel free to make comments.

In September of 2019, we made the
'epic' trip to the east coast for the first birthday of our grandson Evan.
Since Evan's birthday is in September, we decided to join a 29 day RV Caravan for the New England fall color. The tour starts in Maine and ends in Niagara Falls. All told, we did about 12,000 miles with the new truck and trailer.

Washington DC - Day 1 - Oct 21, 2019

A nice day in DC - especially after the rain
and driving on the highways around DC.
We learned how to navigate the bus and train system
to get in to the city from the campground.
Good thing we had practice in Boston!
The first stop was a sculptor garden.

Next stop- National Museum of American History
John Bull locomotive - 1831
Imported from England to use for the 1st train from New York to Philadelphia

Lou likes to look at the early motors and generators.
Pretty big and bulky for 6 hp.

I enjoyed getting out in the wonderful weather
and seeing the sights.
The Washington Monument was completed in 1884
and was the tallest building in the WORLD!!
at 555 ft.

Love the flags and the wonderful marble benches.

View of the Lincoln Memorial

 World War II Memorial

Such a treasure!
Totally awe inspiring

Since we have been on the "Fall Foliage" trip
we have been pre-occupied with finding the perfect red tree --
Eureka, we finally found it!

After what we thought was a perfect plan to get back by Metro to the campground,
we accidentally ended up at the Union Station-
another treat.

It was so extensive that we decided to eat dinner here.

In many ways, it reminded us of the station in Sydney.
Great adventure!
