Travel the USA

After the country re-opened after Covid-19, we are
"On the Road Again."
Please enjoy the 'armchair travels' and feel free to make comments.

In September of 2019, we made the
'epic' trip to the east coast for the first birthday of our grandson Evan.
Since Evan's birthday is in September, we decided to join a 29 day RV Caravan for the New England fall color. The tour starts in Maine and ends in Niagara Falls. All told, we did about 12,000 miles with the new truck and trailer.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles - and MORE (much more!)

Lou's favorite part of the day was the Ford Rouge Factory Tour - where we watched the assembling of the Ford 150's (his new most favorite truck).  The factory operation was so impressive (but we couldn't take any pictures.  Much of the work was still being done by hand.

The rest of the day was at the Museum - a collection of more information than we could comprehend, (or visit in one afternoon). Trains, Auto, Presidential Vehicles, Aviation, Liberty and Justice for All, Mathematics-with interactive exhibits, Furnishings, Agriculture, models of Steam Power and how it drove the Industrial Revolution, (and more). If you are able, it is a terrific museum.

A FEW of the exhibits

Famous Criminals,
Bonnie and Clyde, and John Dillinger and Clyde Barrows
appreciated the quality of Henry Fords vehicles,
as they provided an excellent getaway car!

And Then----

We enjoyed the aviation part the most -

First Class seats in this 1928 airplane

So many interesting facts of the inventiveness of Henry Ford and his determination.

 Weaving in the 1800's

all you weavers - take note!
(import horses from Siberia?, or just their hair?)

This generator powered 1,875  40 watt lightbulbs!

These stationary steam engines powered entire factories, by a complex mechanism of large leather belts.
The steam powered train was HUGE

The first steam powered train - the cars looked like the horse drawn carriages!

The ladies had trouble hand cranking Ford cars to start them, so many bought the first electric cars --
including Mrs. Henry Ford!!
The cost of the electric car was the equivalent of 6 years of an average annual wage!
