We had a lovely time with Harley and Marguerite Adair - the people we met on the trip to Israel.
They have a private lake in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and camp (aka 'cabin') that we enjoyed for a couple of nights.
Lovely camping spot - however, it was not easy to get out!
the first day was good enough weather to enjoy being on the deck for eats
Lou enjoyed the activity of fishing, but we had pot roast for dinner!
The weather kept changing but affording nice views
Marguerite and I took the paddle boat around the lake.
They have a sauna that the whole family enjoys.
The kids like to soak up the heat and then go jump off the rock into the very COLD water!
Four wheeling around their camp and neighbors camp on the logging roads was fun.
(too cold and drippy for fishing)
They have a chapel down by the lake.
The 'pews' are 2 x 6's covered with moss!
The Ore Docks on the edge of Lake Superior were used to transport the iron ore from local mines down to Detroit to the Ford plant, and Pittsburg steel mills
A train would be on top of the dock and dump ore into the narrow bins and the side chutes would funnel the ore into the ships.
this Ore Dock is no longer in use
This Ore Dock is still in use.
The bridge on the right is used to transport coal to the power plant.
